Nike Lunarglide 6

2014 Shoes (Structured & Support) from Nike

Manufacturer's Description

Another landmark entry in NIKE's LUNARGLIDE series, the LUNARGLIDE 6 has been re-engineered to incorporate more LUNARLON FOAM than ever before - making it NIKE's smoothest ride yet.

Built with a plush, dual-layered midsole, the LUNARGLIDE 6 is softer and more responsive than previous incarnations, while a combination of FLYWIRE CABLES and DYNAMIC FIT TECHNOLOGY ensures an enhanced, glove-like fit throughout the upper.

A DYNAMIC SUPPORT PLATFORM at the heel also provides adaptive pronation support for just the right amount of stability and mile after mile of cushioned comfort. Further impact protection is supplied by the shoe's BOTTOMLESS CARRIER, which uses strategically-placed cushioning units for maximum shock absorption at key areas of the heel and forefoot.

The LUNARGLIDE 6 also incorporates a new ANATOMICAL OUTSOLE to accentuate the foot's natural range of motion and offer greater flexibility - and all without sacrificing that famous LUNARGLIDE ride.

The Lunarglide 6 is one of Nike's most popular lightweight running shoes on the market and once you've tried a pair, it's easy to see why. Having previously tested the brilliant Nike Pegasus 30's, I was interested to see how the Lunarglide would match up to its more established brother product.

After initial doubts about the narrowness of the shoe and a potential lack of bounce, the Lunarglide 6 proved to be perfect training shoe for both long and short distance runs on the road.

Let's start from the bottom; the Lunarlon cushioning which was inspired by astronauts bounding weightlessly on the moon is now using even lighter foam then ever before. It provides a perfect soft landing as well as excellent shock resistance. Making it great for striding up hills and bouncing down them.

With Dynamic Support stability, which uses two opposing wedges of foam with different densities to offer a smooth, stable transition from heel to toe, this shoe gives ample backing to the achilles during long runs.

Combine this with an incredibly breathable lightweight mesh upper that conforms to the foot and you have a shoe that is both fits well and feels good.

As you can imagine, there is slightly less support from the Lunarglide 6 than a more traditional trainer. Nonetheless I have found it to be a perfect training shoe whilst I have preparing to run a marathon. Ever when running off round on numerous tractor tracks and grassy hills.

That said I would recommend that anyone over about 10 stone/ 65kg, use something slightly more substantial like the Pegasus for his or her long runs.

Having also briefly tested these shoes on the track, I found them to be a relatively good for speed sessions, in terms of maintain and getting up speed. Yet I would still favour some sort of racing flat, especially in the summer

Durability is also assured with these shoes. Despite the many miles that I have run in recent months, these trainers shoes little to no sign of wear and tear minus a slight discolouring. Being white to start with that's to be expected anyway.

In terms of appearance these shoes have resonates of a typical Nike shoe; they are sleek, stylish and striking. Combining its orange heel and sole with the web-like mesh upper to make the Lunarglide 6 aesthetically pleasing.
