Adidas Adizero Cadence 2

2015 Spikes (Long Distance) from Adidas

Manufacturer's Description

Favored by elite-level athletes around the world and a prime choice amongst distance runners at London 2012, the ADIZERO CADENCE 2.0 is a highly versatile distance spike that offers superior performance for events from 1500m to 10K.

Weighing in at a mere 150g, the CADENCE 2.0 features an AIRMESH upper for superior comfort and a confidence-building glove-like fit, while a flexible sharkskin outsole uses six compression-tiered pins to deliver outstanding underfoot grip.

The pins employed in CADENCE 2.0 are also 20% smaller, which cuts weight and allows the foot to ride closer to the ground for improved power conversion. A similar design ethos has been employed in the spike’s moulded EVA midsole, which has been dropped by 2mm to encourage smoother transitions and better acceleration.

The ADIZERO CADENCE also employs an extended TORSION CONTROL SYSTEM at the midfoot, which uses wishbone shaped thermoplastic to bolster stability whilst enabling the toes and heel to move independently for greater flexibility.

ADIPRENE cushioning also provides outstanding protection over longer distances, while COOLEVER mesh helps regulate interior temperature and moisture output so your feet stay cool and dry.

Air mesh upper provides maximum ventilation.
Lightweight microfiber synthetic offers soft, glove-like fit.
EVA insole adds comfort. Molded EVA midsole delivers lightweight performance.
TORISION® SYSTEM aids midfoot and forefoot integrity.
Flex groves give optimum forefoot flexibility. Replaceable spikes.

I wear the Adidas Cadence 2 a lot for training in as a 400m runner and despite their design for much longer distances, I find them a great choice of shoe to take the pressure off my calf muscles (compared to a sprint spike) whilst also allowing me to get the extra grip and support that I need to be able to pick up a bit more speed. My only quibble is that as I have quite wide feet they aren't always the most comfortable as I find them quite tight around the mid-sole of the shoe.
